Crimson’s work and achievements on MESA include: Development of an in-depth gap analysis of the opportunities and obstacles for financing EE and RE renovations in multi-apartment buildings (MABs) in Moldova, including review and analysis of the existing building stock and energy use patterns; the legal and regulatory framework governing management of MABs; interviews with HOAs, financial institutions, donors and relevant government bodies.
Developing the business case for MAB EE retrofits, considering minimum, light, medium and deep EE renovation options; and a variety of financing structures. Building a custom excel financial model that generates cash-flow, simple pay-back period IRR, NPV and facilitates determination of the financing needs and optimal financing structure, based on a variety of assumptions and inputs.
Presenting findings at a high-level Stakeholders Workshop, which included representatives from local financial institutions, IFIs, donors, CNED, the Ministry of Energy, Chisinau Municipality, Balti Municipality, Termoelectrica and CET Nord (a press release can be found here).
